Three European hits from The Great 5 programme – Spanish Me Too, Italian The First Beautiful Thing and French Mammuth – will be released for regular distribution in Europa Cinema after the 8th ZFF.

Italian men are known for their special relationships with their mothers, and the film The First Beautiful Thing, directed by Paolo Virzì, is a charming and humorous homage to this eternal topic - a middle-aged professor recalls his childhood and the day he went through his greatest trauma – the day his mum Anna was proclaimed the most beautiful mother in Livorno.

Spanish Me Too reminds us once again that we live in a world full of useless prejudices. This film's hero, Daniel, is the first European with Down's Syndrome who graduated from university, and the plot of the film revolves around a love story – Daniel falls for beautiful Laura (Lola Duenas), his rebellious colleague, which causes a series of micro-scandals among their friends and relatives. Lola Dueñas and Pablo Pineda (who himself has Down's Syndrome and has a degree in social psychology) have won the Goya Award for the best female/male role.

Mammuth is a comic French road film with Gerard Depardieu in the role of a former slaughterhouse employee who returns to the places from his youth to collect the documents necessary for his retirement. Don't miss two other films which will soon be released for regular distribution – Magic Silver, the Norwegian children's film shown within the programme Vip Bib for Kids, and the Canadian drama about an interesting love triangle, Heartbeats, by Xavier Dolan.
